The judge in former President Donald Trump’s hush money case approved a request on Tuesday to push back the former president’s sentencing until Sept. 18.
Trump’s lawyers made the request to push back his sentencing from July 11 on Monday, according to NBC News, after the attorneys argued Trump’s action were protected under “presidential immunity.”
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office said Tuesday that he would not be opposed to delaying Trump’s sentencing in his hush money trial to allow time for considering the impact of U.S Supreme Court’s immunity ruling.
“Although we believe defendant’s arguments to be without merit, we do not oppose his request for leave to file and his putative request to adjourn sentencing pending determination of his motion,” Assistant District Attorney Joshua Steinglass responded in a letter filed Tuesday, according to The Hill.
